New Ban List That Murders a Few Decks: RIP SOKKA and Chainsaw Man
The new ban list is here, and it’s shaking things up quite a bit. Some of our favorite decks are getting hit hard. Let’s dive into the changes coming on 8/9/24.
Avatar
Sokka was arguably stronger than Ayame, who got banned even before Hololive Vol 2 was released. While this ban is understandable, the deck wasn’t dominating the scene too much. Avatar decks aren’t exactly easy to pilot, so here’s hoping the Zuko/Iroh deck starts getting some well-deserved attention.
Chainsaw Man
Chainsaw Man has been seeing a lot of play lately. While Aki is powerful, he can also be inconsistent. This ban is a great opportunity for players to explore other builds, like the Double Himeno Combo Deck or the Denji/Chainsaw Man deck. The Samurai Sword deck has already seen some rogue success, so keep an eye on that one.
Hololive
Hololive’s ban is a bit of a surprise. We haven’t seen much play from the Gura deck in our local scene, and it didn’t show up during the Bushi Spring Fest Regionals either. However, Hololive is known for having a variety of strong combos. With the Ambassador and Summer Collection sets coming out soon, there will be plenty of new options for Hololive players to experiment with.
